Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini Rencontre Fountain Pen – Bordeaux Fonce

This Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini fountain pen features a marbled red resin body and a white cap and finial, and is complemented by gold-plated accents. The flat top cap features the Sailor anchor logo inset into the top finial.

This pocket-sized compact fountain pen comes equipped with Sailor’s legendary 14k yellow gold nib in medium fine. The cap screws open and close, and can be pushed to post securely onto the back of the barrel when writing.

Rencontre is French for “encounter” and the name follows suit: Bordeaux Fonce means “Dark Burgundy”. This series embodies the encounter between acrylic resin which offers transparentness and durability, with the elegant texture of marble patterns, born of Sailor’s original technique. The marble patterned barrel is the iconic characteristic of this series and is manufactured with the injection molding method we normally employ for resin parts. Only under limited conditions can two colors form a beautiful marble pattern without blending too much into each other. Marble forming techniques have existed, but it was always considered difficult to create marble patterns with acrylic resin.

The Professional Gear Slim Mini fountain pen comes with a Sailor proprietary cartridge. It can accept a Sailor Mini Ink converter (sold separately), but not the standard Sailor converter due to the short barrel length.

The size of these pens makes them particularly convenient to have on hand in a jacket pocket or classy clutch so collectors can bring this pen along wherever they wish and enjoy the touch of Rencontre by Sailor.
